HALIFAX’S PIER 21 and MY FAMILY’S IMMIGRATION STORY | NOVA SCOTIA

I visit the Canadian Museum of Immigration at Pier 21 in Halifax, Nova Scotia to retrace my family’s arrival to Canada. My grandparents first set foot on Canadian soil at Pier 21 and I hope to find information about their arrival and their immigration experience.

Between 1928 and 1971, close to 1 million people came through Pier 21. It played a crucial role during WWII and the post-war years for both immigrants and the Canadian military. 1 in 5 Canadians began their new life in Canada at Pier 21, and today you can visit the Canadian National Immigration Museum of Pier 21 to learn about their immigration story.
